Where we have landed... 2022

There aren't many COVID Comics out right now. It was like... they were everywhere before... in 2020 and maybe even a little bit in 2021. But, I was just putting it all together back then, getting it started, testing it out, living it, and evolving it: "The Masker Way".

The Maskers Comic is more important now than ever. Episode 1 Armoring Up starts at the beginning-- and it is important to know where we started. I did write it in 2020-2021 time period when the science and politics was all about community masking.

But Episode 2 Clowning Around, it shows where we are at right now in 2022. High risk families are still here. Still vulnerable. People are still being hospitalized and dying. As I type this here in late May, where I live is considered High Risk according to the CDC. And so is my household. Some in my area are masking some are not. Some people feel protected by vaccines, some do not. Some are protected somewhat, and some are not. Some are just tired, and cannot see a solution to be safe and social.

So, that is what this comic is about. Still. Staying safe and social, even now. And it models a way to do that.

Wearing N-95 masks or their equivalents inside, and keeping 6 feet (not allowing others to steal our noodles, so to speak) and leaving if we cannot get that space (KaPow, walk away). And then going to events that do have some extra protections in place (even though mandating masks in public places is not happening in Florida right now), we can attend ventilated, uncrowded events, and places where we can keep our distance in.

It is important to get this message out there because the best interests of High Risk families are not necessarily being represented by the current ways in many places nor is it really talked about much, in fact there isn't much new discussion at all. And because the discussions have stopped, just like one of those spinning playground whirls, we all sort of wobble off, and... this is where we have landed.
